Free Blog! (Camera Not Included.)
This Monday, July 8th, marked my first year of blogging. The decision to introduce myself as a blogger that day in 2012 didn’t come easy. I shilly-shallied for months. Word Press, having sensed my hesitation, sang their siren song – repeating the only word necessary to lure me once and for all, “Free! Freee! Freeeee!”
If you have spent any amount of time on this site since then, you know that unlike the poor sailors of Greek mythology, I didn’t starve to death. There are loads of pictures to prove it, which may be what lead to the recent death of my camera. Big D performed surgery and did his best to revive my third eye, but with no success. As my 9-year-old friend laid on the operating (computer) table, guts hanging out, brain detached, and nerves exposed, all I could think about was how I’d like to get a picture of the procedure. But to paraphrase Big D, I was missing “the thing I need to do the thing I need.”
So to celebrate this past year and honor the best camera I’ve ever had, I’ve written something special – Ode to a Kodak EasyShare LS743.
Ahem . . .
. . . Just kidding, I wouldn’t do that to you. Hows about I just show you some of Kody’s best pics from this last year, instead. I think you’ll find my music selection to be just right for this occasion.
Oh wait. Let’s try this version.
Food:
Kody often wore as much food as she photographed.
Kody’s specialty was close-ups, allowing me to capture snow on a dandelion and a dew drop on a caterpillar’s hairs.
That’s Kody in the middle picture.
What started as a great photo and an easy introduction to Big D has become our running visual gag – like Tim Taylor’s neighbor, Wilson on Home Improvement. Read the original post, “Big D’s Hands” here.
I haven’t forgotten about the recipes and other topics I promised to post. As soon as I have the camera situation resolved, I’ll start with the Buffalo Chicken Soup with Corn recipe.
I appreciate all of you for the memories and for making my first year of blogging so great. Here’s to year two!
